There’s More To Life

There’s More To Life, folks, than just existing…

So many people wander aimlessly through life. They have no direction. They have no goals. They have no dreams.

Your average life does not have to be as good as it gets. There is more to life if you want it.

There are a few quotes I’ve heard over the years…

“If You Don’t Know Where You’re Going, How Will You Know Once You’re There?”
“If you don’t know where you are going, any road will get you there.”
“If you don’t know where you’re going, you’ll probably end up somewhere else.”

These are so true. If you don’t know where you are going, how are you ever going to get there? And if you don’t know where you’re going, well, anywhere you land, will be where you were going… Do you really want to leave it to chance? Do you really just want to accept whatever comes down the pike?

If going to work every day, sitting in a little cubicle or behind a desk, moaning and complaining about how awful it is and how miserable you are… If sitting around watching the “boob tube” or as we like to say “electronic income reducer”… If playing games all day, like Farmville, Mafia Wars, or World of Warcraft (WoW)… If those are all things that you do… I like to call those survival tactics and time wasters. That isn’t really living… that’s just existing and passing time.

There is more to life than just that. Life shouldn’t be deduced into simply existing and surviving… That’s boring and unproductive. I can’t believe that most people live like that. It’s like they are totally blinded to the potential within themselves to be something more, to have a life worth living and enjoying…

I challenge you to think about what you would like your life to be like if there were no limitations on time or finances or ability. Truly think about the things that you want out of life. What is your vision of a perfect life? What would your daily activities be? Think about this – in fact, give it a LOT of thought. Map it out in your mind. Make sure to include all of your senses – what it looks like, sounds like, feels like, smells like, even tastes like. The more of your senses you involve, the stronger the vision, the stronger the vision, the more you program yourself for what it is you truly want.

Now… it’s not just as easy as thinking about what you want out of life and creating your map in your mind. You have to take the necessary actions to bring about the goals you seek. You must take the actions necessary to move you in the right direction towards that vision.

Some people use whiteboards to write phrases on, or a bulletin board to put pictures on. I go one step further. I make “Mind Movies“. A mind movie is a video that includes both the phrases and pictures which can help stimulate more of the senses to give you a more vivid experience in helping you realize your dreams than the stand alone methods can.

Once you have decided what it is you want, and have it all mapped out in your head, and put it down on something, whether it’s writing it out, putting phrases on a whiteboard, putting pictures on a bulletin board, or making a Mind Movie, you have to take the appropriate action to get yourself there. You can’t just visualize it and then think that all you have to do is wait for it to come to you. Nothing is achieved from laziness. You have to take the ideas and inspirations you will receive and then roll with them.

Once you decide where it is that you want to go, the universe will mysteriously direct you on how to get there. Opportunities will pop up, you will get ideas and/or inspirations of things you can do. When that happens, you have to grab the bull by the horns and go for it. This is the universe directing you towards what you want. Don’t ignore it. This is your chance to create the life that you want.

Now… if watching TV, playing games, and merely existing or surviving is what you want out of life. Well, more power to you, I can’t stop you. As long as you enjoy your life, that’s what matters. Each one of us has a role to play in this universe. Not everyone wants the same thing.

For me, though, I believe that there’s more to life than just that, and I’m going to do everything in my power to make it happen!

Until next time…

Is Your Mindset Holding You Back?

One of the biggest obstacles I’m seeing in the Online Marketing Industry is simple: Mindset. If your Mindset is holding you back, I can help you.

I used to struggle with a poor mindset. Not poor in financial means, but poor as in bad. Over the past year, I have worked greatly on my mindset and I am now a completely different person than I was before. I am much stronger, confident, outgoing, etc… This is not to say I don’t have anything left to conquer… Working with your mindset is a lifetime task.

You are constantly presented with ideas, which in turn, turn into your beliefs. Your beliefs rule your mindset, and thus, you yourself. But, I have good news. If you don’t like how you are, there is hope. You can change your mindset, and in doing so, change yourself.

I’ve often heard it said, if you don’t like how something is, wait five minutes and it will change. I’ve usually heard it applied to the weather in certain cities. But this is true of anything. What you feed yourself mentally determines how you see things.

I’ve seen countless case studies of how belief shapes a person. For example, a student believes they are bad at math and they just don’t get it. The student’s poor grades “confirm” that fact. In essence, however, they have led themselves to believe that they are bad in math, and therefore, the reflective grades only “prove” to the student that they were right.

I’ve heard this compared to being hypnotized, in that a hypnotist plants a certain suggestion in the subject and convinces him that it is true. Once the subject “believes” that whatever it is, is true, it happens. Such as in the case of a weight lifter being told that he absolutely could not lift a pencil off of a desk, when normally he could lift over 400 pounds over his head.

When we feed ourselves thoughts and ideas every day that we can or can not do something, our mind kicks into gear in order to make those thoughts and ideas true.

So, I have to ask you. Is your mindset holding you back? Is there some thought or idea there that you can’t do something? If so, let’s try for the next 21 days to re-program your mindset. Reverse those negative limiting beliefs into positive beliefs. Is there something you want to do, but think you can’t? Tell yourself you can. Convince yourself in your mind that you can do that. Visualize yourself doing what you have been wanting to do at night before you go to bed, in the morning as you wake up, and as many times during the day that you can. Visualize your goal and try not to just see it, but hear it, smell it, taste it, and touch it. When you involve all of your senses, it makes the experience much more vivid and memorable.

If you can do this for the next 21 days, I’m certain that whatever your limiting belief was, will be just a distant memory, and a new you will have emerged, doing and being the person you want to be. It starts with you. Shed the negative limiting beliefs and stand tall with your new image of yourself. I believe in you. You should believe in yourself now.

Until next time…

One of the five things that Leaders do every day is visualize their Goals.

A lot of people may have problems with Goal setting. But folks, let me tell you… If you don’t know exactly what you want, you are cheating yourself. It can also be said that if you don’t know where you are going how will you know if you get there? Don’t let yourself float through life – have a plan – have goals – get that mental map of where you are going. Know what you want in life and go after it!

When asked what your goals are, do you say get out of debt? Really? That’s what you want? You want to get to zero??? Come on! Think bigger! What is it that you REALLY want? (Oh, and instead of saying get out of debt, try rephrasing it to taking care of your OBLIGATIONS – it’s amazing at what some simple vocabulary changes can do to the energy around your thoughts) But seriously, play a bigger game than that. Go for what you really want and you’ll take care of all of that in the wake.

A friend shared with me, that a leader in his life grilled him on what he wanted, what he really wanted. Finally, he got so ticked off that he was backed into a corner, that he got a moment of clarity, complete authenticity, full self-expression, and he said “You want to know what I want? I’ll tell you what I want! I want my kids to wake me up in the morning, not from the alarm clock, I want them to wake me up in the morning, and I want to have breakfast with them, I want to make their lunch, I want to sit at a table, I want to have a bowl of Cheerios with them, I want to have my wife, I want us all to be in our pajamas, I want us to be together as a family, I want to be the primary influence in their life. You want to challenge me on that? That’s what I want! Now back off!” He said he could hear his mentor smile on the other end of the line and his mentor said to him “Don’t ever forget that. We finally got to what you really want.”

It’s not about the money, it’s about what the money will get you. Money is just ink on paper. Think about what you will do with that money, how you will feel, what you are like, what you do with your day. Feel it. Visualize it. Take it all in. Make it so crystal clear in your mind that you could paint it on a canvas.

Is it a goal where you finally just turn around, your back is to the corner, and you just turn around and you’ve got that look in your eye, and you’re saying to yourself and the rest of the world, “This is what I want! Nobody’s going to stop me from getting it. It’s a goal worth dying for. Somebody just TRY and stop me!”?

The leaders in your life are here and looking to help you achieve that goal. Resources are here to help you accomplish what you want in life. What are you willing to fight for? Are you willing to do whatever it takes? Will you persist without exception? Do you want it bad enough?

Folks… don’t compromise on your goals. I want you to sit down, right now, and really think. What is it that you REALLY want. Not the mundane things (like material items – houses, cars, and doo-dads), but deep down, what is your ultimate goal in life? What do you want your life to be like? Who do you want to be? What do you want to do?

Think of your goal. Think of the person that you are having accomplished that goal. See it, feel it, hear it, touch it. Use all of your senses. Make that goal so crystal clear it’s like a movie in your mind. Make it so crystal clear that you could paint it on a canvas. Visualize that goal as you wake up in the morning, before you go to sleep at night, and as many times in between as you can. Strive with all your might to achieve that goal. Use the resources that you have around you. Talk to other people who have achieved similar goals and find out what they did every day to accomplish that goal. Fight for that goal. Go after it with everything in you. You deserve it! You are worth it!

If you want to be a 3% Leader, you must separate yourself from the rest of the herd. Bring that special something something to the game.

3% Leaders see every situation in terms of available resources – materials, technology, and most importantly, people. People are your greatest asset. What separates the 3% Leaders from the rest of the herd is the way that they see the available resources and what they DO with the resources.

If you want to be in the game to win, you can’t just expect to show up and win, you have to use the resources available to you and set yourself up to win. It may be a long grueling “season”, but if you stack the odds in your favor, you WILL get your “win”.

Dallas Braden, a virtually unknown Oakland A’s major league pitcher, pitched the 19th Perfect Game in the history of Major League Baseball on Sunday, May 9, 2010. When asked how he could go from unknown to pitching the perfect game, he said he always showed up to pitch a no-hitter, the perfect game.

Showing up is a large part, but showing up to win is even bigger. You have to visualize that “perfect pitch”.

Napoleon Hill said in his book, Think & Grow Rich, that anything man can conceive, he can achieve. We all have the ability as entrepreneurs to conceive and achieve the impossible. You just need to use all the tools you have, all the resources you have, and bring your greatest game every time.

So, show up, use your team, and keep throwing. Plug in and create it for yourself.

People are told every day that they don’t deserve something, that they can’t have something, or won’t ever have something.

Why are you letting someone else determine what you deserve or what you can or cannot have? Why are you giving your power away?

Fear rules a lot of people. There are two kinds of fear. Authentic fear and inauthentic fear. Authentic fear is a bear outside of your opened tent flap while camping. Inauthentic fear is the negative story that you tell yourself. It’s a fear that lives in your mind, and your mind alone.

So, when a fear pops up, you need to analyze it. Is it authentic or inauthentic? If it’s inauthentic, you must dispel that fear in order to move on. Write it down in a journal and in detail. Then look at it. Is that fear serving you? I would guess that it isn’t. If it’s not, then you need to move past that fear.

Visualize (visualization is key and a very important step to success) your life as if that fear was not true, if the opposite happened. Such as, if your fear is of success or of failure. What would your life be like if you were actually successful? It would be amazing and wonderful, wouldn’t it? I think the fear of success or failure comes down to what I said in the beginning.

We are conditioned to survive, not thrive. We are programmed that we are only worth so much, and in most cases, that’s not much. We are told, you’ll never amount to anything or you’ll never have whatever it is that you want. (A story I recently heard was that John Reese used to take an auto trader magazine to the video store where he worked to read on his breaks. He would look at the Porsche that he was going to buy. His boss saw him doing this and told him that he shouldn’t do that to himself because it was very very likely, that that is never going to happen, that it was very likely he was never going to have that car. He told his boss, that no, he didn’t realize, it was inevitible that he was going to drive back to his workplace one day in the near future in his Porsche and return videos to them that they have to put away. And he did just that – funny though, they all thought it was his Dad’s car – they still didn’t believe it could be his…) Parents also often tell their children that they shouldn’t go to college or go into a career in art/music/drama because it’s iffy, it’s not stable, and it’s not secure. But, it’s that child’s dream, not the parent’s.

Don’t ever let anyone steal your dreams. You need to go for what your dreams lead you to. Take that power. You, and only you, have the right to tell yourself what you deserve or what you can have. You can have anything you want in this world as long as you believe.

Some food for thought on overcoming adversity, fear, and the objections of others:

Lucille Ball was told she was wasting her time because she was too shy to put her best foot forward…

The Beatles were told that the recording company didn’t like their sound, that guitar music was on the way out…

Ulysses S. Grant was a failed soldier, farmer, and real estate agent and went to work for his father as a handyman…

Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team and went home and cried…

Thomas Edison’s teacher told him he was too stupid to learn anything that he should go into a field where he might succeed by the virtue of his pleasant personality…

Walt Disney was fired from his newspaper because he lacked imagination and had no original ideas…

Abraham Lincoln’s fiance died, he failed in business twice, he had a nervous breakdown, and he was defeated in eight elections…

If you’ve never failed, you’ve never lived. Life equals risk.

Video by BluefishTV.com http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dbeJkY6QGk

(Just some background on this video from my perspective: My uncle sent me a link to this video; unbeknownst to him, that just that afternoon I had to resign from my job [turned out to be a good thing though - I'm now home with my family and thriving in my home business]. I sent him back a message thanking him, that he didn’t know how much I needed that right now. Later I had posted about my resigning on my Facebook, and he read that, and thought back to my comment about needing that video right at that moment, and tears came to his eyes – he was touched because he had touched someone else…)

Overcome your fears and let your dreams shine. You are the master of your future. Make it a bright one!
