We Live In A World Of Change

We live in a world of Change. Think back… once upon a time there were 8-tracks, then records, then cassette tapes, then CD’s, now downloadable MP3′s… Most teenagers nowadays wonder why CD’s are sometimes still referred to as “Albums”. Think back to when the first color TV came out that only had 4 stations… or phones that had dials that you had to poke your fingers through to dial, heck even further back to when you just picked up the receiver and told the operator who you wanted to call and there were things they called “party lines” and then there were touch tone phones and now we’ve evolved into having mobile cell phones.

Change is inevitable and is all around us. Change is inescapable. It all boils down to… how you handle changes.

Now… stay in the 3% Leader space with me here a few moments.

I’ve developed an acute awareness of change. You can be a 97%’er in how you face it or you can be a 3%’er. But let me tell ya, folks… 97%’ers are people who are resistant to change. I’ve asked myself at times “I’m not immune to it, why am I resistant to change?” And really, it’s quite simple. I’ve even asked myself “Is it in my genes?” Well… actually…. That is the perfect explanation.

Every human being is genetically programed to resist change and maintain a state of equilibrium. The condition is known as Homeostasis. It’s evolved naturally over time as a means by which our ancestors could survive constantly changing conditions. And when an environment change occurs in our own lives, our internal mechanisms jump into play to regulate the new influence and return our body to, what biologists call, a steady state. Essentially, the condition of equilibrium we call Homeostasis, developed from our need of stability and security.

Now… Here’s the problem. The problem is that the mechanism works to keep things as they are… EVEN when more favorable possibilities exist. It doesn’t distinguish between change that would make life better and change that would make things worse. It simply resists any and all change.

Now, again, stay with me in the 3% perspective here…

I’ve come to understand that this is part of our sub-conscious. Remember, our sub-conscious mind is WAY more powerful than our conscious mind. It’s on auto-pilot. That’s why we talk about why affirmations are such a vital component to reprogramming ourselves. When we repeat something over and over again, even if we don’t believe it at first, you don’t believe it, you eventually DO believe it, physically you believe it.

Here’s another example of your sub-conscious mind not knowing the difference between truth and fiction… Chances are, if you have watched the movie “Old Yeller”, and you have a pulse, at the end of the movie you teared up. Now… Your conscious mind KNOWS that the movie is just a story, it’s fictitious, BUT your sub-conscious mind does NOT know that, and that’s why you teared up.

The point here is this. Genetically, we have this condition, Homeostasis, and the mechanism is designed to keep things as they are even when more favorable possibilities exist. So… has every single one of us been genetically designed to resist change? The answer, simply put, is YES. That’s why people have such a hard time breaking out of their regions of security, they find it hard to adapt new habits, learn a new skill, or cultivate a new skill. The GOOD news is… a Homeostat CAN be re-set and change can be embraced. Now… Here’s the bad news… sometimes, re-setting process we go through, often times, brings stress, it brings pain, and it brings a certain amount of fear with it too.

Let’s break this down a little bit more. Do you enjoy moving? Really? I mean REALLY enjoy moving? Now, it could be next door or it could be across the globe. To use some colloquial language here, moving BITES! Why? It’s kind of simple to understand now, isn’t it? That re-setting process brings a certain level of stress and pain and sometimes even a bit of fear. It’s change.

But never forget. 3% Leaders know the secret. See… We understand that the lesson, and/or to alleviate that said stress and anxiety, we continually remind ourselves and the people around us WHY the change is required and we stay connected to the many many BENEFITS that will result from it.

3% Leaders openly share that change will bring us all that much closer to the compelling cause we are all striving towards. 3% Leaders show ourselves and others how the change will ultimately improve their lives and allow them to be more effective, and ultimately that example makes people aware of how the change will help them, not only help themselves, but help them serve others and help make a much, much deeper contribution.

I want you to master change. I want to help you master change by giving you the knowledge to change.

There is a Law of Nature called the Law of Environment. A seed grows into a plant only when the soil and the moisture, and the temperature are favorable. In other words, the environment must be ideal.

To manage change effectively though, as a visionary leader, you must provide the ideal culture in which people can respond positively to change and grow in the process. What kind of culture would that be? You must create a learning culture. You must champion intellectual development. No new skills equals no new money. You must foster a workplace, an environment, around you that rewards constant learning and skills improvement. The best way to combat the fear and strain that change invokes is to become knowledgeable about it. The best antidote for fear is knowledge. Don’t get lazy about learning. Stay competitive in this new area. You must let everyone know you’ve got to continually be learning. Because, ultimately, that inspires new ideas, new information, and remember, it boils down to this… He or she who learns the most, wins.

Simply put, 3% Leaders are Learners and EMBRACE the change. There is JOY in change. Without change, there can be no growth. And without change, there can be no improvement. And without change, there can be no progress. Understand… This is the Way of the World. Change is ESSENTIAL to our Evolution as a Civilization and it’s necessary to our very SURVIVAL. Change is Humanity’s Best Friend.

97%’ers fight it. 3% Leaders DELIGHT in it. Embrace the change! Understand there is JOY in it. That’s why I’m here for you to learn from. Be that 3% Leader today. Embrace a new skill today. Play FULL OUT and watch what happens.

Until next time…

The search for the Golden Egg is ever present. With the economy in the dumpster and the unreliability of “jobs” or Wall Street, people are looking for alternatives. What kind of alternatives? Ones where they can beat the recession, fire their boss, end their long commute, and spend more time with their family. How are they achieving these goals? Home based businesses on the internet.

Work-at-home opportunities are rampant. You can find home biz ads everywhere you look around the internet. How can you make sure that you find the right one for you? Well, here’s some advice on what to look for to find the opportunity that fits you and your family.

When looking into the various internet business opportunities, you must do your research. Find out more about the company and what you’ll be doing to see if it will be a viable solution for you.

Research the company To find out more about the company, you can use a search engine, such as Google. You can Google the company’s name along with ripoff, scam, or review and see if they have a good reputation and to see if you can decipher whether the company you are looking at appears to be legitimate or not. Let common sense prevail, however. A lot of times, reviewers will say that a certain opportunity is a scam or bad deal. But look at what they have to say before you make a decision. In most cases, they are just trying to sell you on their opportunity. If that is the case, not a whole lot of stock can be put into their negative spin on things. They are just trying to win you over to their side.

Find out what you’ll be doing When doing your research, you’ll want to try to find out exactly what you’ll be doing. Will you be placing ads in Pay-Per-Click (PPC)? Selling digital software? Marketing a website? Make sure that whatever it is that you will be doing, that it appeals to you and is concurrent with your morals and values. If it feels shady to do something, like you will be deceiving someone, then don’t do it. The more you find something that appeals to you, that you have a passion about, the more successful you will be at it. Also, you’ll want to make sure it’s not too far out of your skill set. This isn’t to say that someone completely new to a computer can’t tackle an internet home business. You’ll just want to make sure that you have the time and the money to invest into the proper training to bring you up to speed on the skills you will need to survive the internet jungle.

Find out how much money you’ll need up front Many opportunities start out for pennies compared to what it will cost you once you get on the inside. This is not necessarily a bad thing. Just be prepared. If you don’t have a lot to spend, you’ll want to stick with lower operating costs until you get the cash flow to fund the bigger opportunities. One thing to keep in mind as well, is that you get what you pay for. Many times, things that you can purchase for cheap, are just that, cheap. Don’t expect too much. On the other hand, inflated prices are possible too. Use your best judgment. Listen to your instinct. If the opportunity sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

All in all, just make sure you do your research before you plunge head first into anything. Make sure it’s legitimate and has staying power, that it’s something you would enjoy doing or a product that you would enjoy promoting, and that you are aware of what all the opportunity entails.

I wish you the best of luck in your search for your Golden Egg. In the famous words of Star Trek’s Spock, May you live long and prosper!
