One of the five things that Leaders do every day is visualize their Goals.

A lot of people may have problems with Goal setting. But folks, let me tell you… If you don’t know exactly what you want, you are cheating yourself. It can also be said that if you don’t know where you are going how will you know if you get there? Don’t let yourself float through life – have a plan – have goals – get that mental map of where you are going. Know what you want in life and go after it!

When asked what your goals are, do you say get out of debt? Really? That’s what you want? You want to get to zero??? Come on! Think bigger! What is it that you REALLY want? (Oh, and instead of saying get out of debt, try rephrasing it to taking care of your OBLIGATIONS – it’s amazing at what some simple vocabulary changes can do to the energy around your thoughts) But seriously, play a bigger game than that. Go for what you really want and you’ll take care of all of that in the wake.

A friend shared with me, that a leader in his life grilled him on what he wanted, what he really wanted. Finally, he got so ticked off that he was backed into a corner, that he got a moment of clarity, complete authenticity, full self-expression, and he said “You want to know what I want? I’ll tell you what I want! I want my kids to wake me up in the morning, not from the alarm clock, I want them to wake me up in the morning, and I want to have breakfast with them, I want to make their lunch, I want to sit at a table, I want to have a bowl of Cheerios with them, I want to have my wife, I want us all to be in our pajamas, I want us to be together as a family, I want to be the primary influence in their life. You want to challenge me on that? That’s what I want! Now back off!” He said he could hear his mentor smile on the other end of the line and his mentor said to him “Don’t ever forget that. We finally got to what you really want.”

It’s not about the money, it’s about what the money will get you. Money is just ink on paper. Think about what you will do with that money, how you will feel, what you are like, what you do with your day. Feel it. Visualize it. Take it all in. Make it so crystal clear in your mind that you could paint it on a canvas.

Is it a goal where you finally just turn around, your back is to the corner, and you just turn around and you’ve got that look in your eye, and you’re saying to yourself and the rest of the world, “This is what I want! Nobody’s going to stop me from getting it. It’s a goal worth dying for. Somebody just TRY and stop me!”?

The leaders in your life are here and looking to help you achieve that goal. Resources are here to help you accomplish what you want in life. What are you willing to fight for? Are you willing to do whatever it takes? Will you persist without exception? Do you want it bad enough?

Folks… don’t compromise on your goals. I want you to sit down, right now, and really think. What is it that you REALLY want. Not the mundane things (like material items – houses, cars, and doo-dads), but deep down, what is your ultimate goal in life? What do you want your life to be like? Who do you want to be? What do you want to do?

Think of your goal. Think of the person that you are having accomplished that goal. See it, feel it, hear it, touch it. Use all of your senses. Make that goal so crystal clear it’s like a movie in your mind. Make it so crystal clear that you could paint it on a canvas. Visualize that goal as you wake up in the morning, before you go to sleep at night, and as many times in between as you can. Strive with all your might to achieve that goal. Use the resources that you have around you. Talk to other people who have achieved similar goals and find out what they did every day to accomplish that goal. Fight for that goal. Go after it with everything in you. You deserve it! You are worth it!

Until next time…

If you want to be a 3% Leader, you must separate yourself from the rest of the herd. Bring that special something something to the game.

3% Leaders see every situation in terms of available resources – materials, technology, and most importantly, people. People are your greatest asset. What separates the 3% Leaders from the rest of the herd is the way that they see the available resources and what they DO with the resources.

If you want to be in the game to win, you can’t just expect to show up and win, you have to use the resources available to you and set yourself up to win. It may be a long grueling “season”, but if you stack the odds in your favor, you WILL get your “win”.

Dallas Braden, a virtually unknown Oakland A’s major league pitcher, pitched the 19th Perfect Game in the history of Major League Baseball on Sunday, May 9, 2010. When asked how he could go from unknown to pitching the perfect game, he said he always showed up to pitch a no-hitter, the perfect game.

Showing up is a large part, but showing up to win is even bigger. You have to visualize that “perfect pitch”.

Napoleon Hill said in his book, Think & Grow Rich, that anything man can conceive, he can achieve. We all have the ability as entrepreneurs to conceive and achieve the impossible. You just need to use all the tools you have, all the resources you have, and bring your greatest game every time.

So, show up, use your team, and keep throwing. Plug in and create it for yourself.
