When is the last time you gave someone a compliment or told someone they are doing a great job at something? It seems in adult life that we are conditioned to always find the negative in anything and point it out. When we are raising children, it is encouraged that we acknowledge their good behaviors in order to reinforce the fact that we want them to do that behavior again. By rewarding a child’s good behavior, it boosts their confidence and self-esteem and makes them want to do more good things to please us. However, as adults we somehow have forgotten the art of compliments and focus on only telling someone what they have done wrong.
It seems to me, that the saying “You catch more flies with honey than you do vinegar” is appropriate. If we focused on telling the people in our life that they have done something right, it will make them want to do more good things to please us. It helps build confidence and self-esteem and all around makes them a better person.
Think about someone in your life that has done something good, has had some kind of success, and pay them a compliment or recognition. It will go far in boosting that person up and enable them to come into a better mindset about themselves so that they continue to do good things.
I like to make it a habit to always find something good that someone has done and let them know that I think that they have done awesome and that they matter to me. If we boost each other up all the time it will be a far better world then always bringing someone down. Let’s focus on the positive and make this world a better place!
If you are miserable right now, it’s because you choose to be. If your today isn’t shaping up like you want it to, you and you alone have the power to change your tomorrow.
Quite literally, you are miserable right now because of the thoughts you are thinking. If you don’t like the way something is, change your perceptions, change your thought patterns. Choose to be happy. When you choose a new outlook on life, it can change how you feel and how you respond to events. Most importantly, you need to quit blaming outside uncontrollable forces for your problems and challenges in life. Through your thoughts you have made decisions and those decisions have led you on the path you are on. The path of life has many forks and branches. Will you continue on the same path or will you ignite the power in you right now and choose a new, better, and brighter path? Your future is up to you. It is what you make it.
It all comes down to the power of your thoughts and decisions. You can stay miserable by continuing to think the way you do, or you can choose to think different thoughts, happier thoughts, more productive thoughts, and therefore alter the decisions that you make based on those thoughts, and become a happier, more enjoyable person. Change isn’t always easy. Your mind is going to want to resist it. But your mind is not in control, you are. There is a saying by Albert Einstein “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”. If you want to see a change, the change has to begin with you. Choose better thoughts. Make better decisions.
I would like to ask everyone to help me with a challenge of mine. I struggle with receiving compliments and recognition. I always just brush it off as nothing, and I need to stop doing that and be open to receiving. I give so much of myself, asking little if anything in return.
When I worked and got awards, I would just shrug them off as it was part of my job and just something I did because it was the right thing to do or was good for the company. I never took and understood the full weight of the compliments and recognition.
In one way, I like compliments and recognition, and in another, I don’t. It’s just something I do, something that is a part of me. It was strange at work, I would see other employees who were so slow and did next to nothing and it always irked me. I always put in 110% and couldn’t understand why others didn’t. I think that’s why they liked me so much. I was always producing more and always asking for more responsibility always taking the initiative to create something better. Like I said, it’s just a part of me, something I have always done. I’m a better giver than receiver.
So, I want your help with my challenge of receiving. If you know me, whether by an online association or you have met me in real life, I want you to leave a comment with a compliment or recognition so that I can learn to accept them more and easier.
Thanks! As John Jackson always says, you all inspire me. Thank you for being a part of my life. I am truly blessed.

It may seem like it has nothing to do with running your own online business, or marketing, but really, when you think about it, it has EVERYTHING to do with it!
How we choose to communicate with others directly influences our results in life, as well as business. I have made it a practice to tell those that I choose to surround myself with how much I love them and how awesome they truly are. I hope after you watch this inspiring video, that you will take up the practice as well.
Thanks go to Cristina Munoz for sharing this awesome video with me! I LOVE it, and I know you will too!
Everyone has that little intuitive voice inside them that keeps guiding them along the way. However, most of us have learned to tune that out and not listen to it.
I know I have at times. Cases in point:
I had always heard that when babies learn to walk, it’s over night. I was like yeah, right, okay… Well, my son has always been a little slower in things, he was born 5 1/2 weeks early. He also has his own time schedule to do thing, not adhering to a standardized chart. He was probably about 2-3 months later than other kids in crawling, and walking was the same way. He would take 2 and 3 steps in between things, and I thought it was going to be forever before he walked. Then one day he started getting daring and took 4 and 5 steps between things. Later that afternoon, after never seeing him stand up without holding onto something, I saw him stand up in the middle of our back yard – in no man’s land with nothing to hold onto. The very next day, he traveled more than the entire length of the house from corner to corner without touching anything. He went from a few steps to walking all over the house – overnight! I should have listened!
When deciding what camcorder to purchase, I had been told the Flip would do for a starting camera by many sources. Even a friend said that it was good. I did not listen and thought I’d be all fancy and professional and get one of those expensive camcorders. Surely they would be better, right? Wrong! I went through both a Canon and a Sony and had to take both of them back. Our 4 year old Kodak digital camera that could take video as well did a better job with the white balance and color. So, on my third try, I tried the Flip Ultra II. Lo and behold it worked! The white balance and color was perfect! I should have listened and saved myself the extra trips back and forth to the store.
This last one here is one I really wish I had listened to sooner. I’ve known about Andy Andrew’s book, The Travler’s Gift for some time now. I also knew that he was going to be at a conference I am attending next week. So, I knew I wanted to get it and have it read before then, but I still kept putting off the purchase. Then, he was scheduled to be on our Leadership Mastermind call a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to have it in time, but I knew there was no way I could get it to me in time, not even with my Prime shipping at Amazon. And I still procrastinated another day or two. I think I ended up ordering it after the call. Well, it finally came in and I let it sit on my kitchen table until late that evening. Finally, around 1:30 a.m. I decided to go to bed and read for a bit. Maybe a couple of pages or a chapter, but usually no more than that. Well, 80 pages later and 4:00 a.m. after I had intended on staying up all night and reading the whole book because it was so good, my body finally succumbed to sleep. I’ve now finished that book and it has touched me and impacted my life so significantly, I really wish I would have listened and gotten it sooner!
So, remember, when you have those intuitive inklings, when you have that inner voice telling you that you should be doing something, listen to it, you won’t regret it! It’s when you don’t listen to yourself that eventually, somewhere down the road, you regret it. So, Listen to Yourself!
Mindset is one of the most critical skills you can learn when it comes to becoming successful. If you don’t have the preconceived belief that you are a successful person, then you are not going to be successful no matter what you do. You have to believe in yourself first before anyone else will. I hope to contribute content here to help you develop a positive mindset to become successful in every area in your life, whether it be your personal life or business life.
I am a Networking Mompreneur. So, for me, it’s both personal and business. I have heard from just about everyone that I am connected with in network marketing, that Mindset is the number one area that you need to have in place before you can become successful. I started my path on re-discovering my personal growth prior to my search (again) for an online opportunity to make money from home. I think it was integral in finding the opportunity that I did. And because I believe so highly in the Law of Attraction and Mindset, I decided to share my nuggets of knowledge with everyone.
If there is ever an area that you would like me to cover in regards to Mindset or the Law of Attraction, please let me know. I am here to help others, so would love to know what you think and what you want information on.
May you have a very blessed (by deity of choice) day! And don’t forget – you are the creator of your day – create a great one!
It is often a person’s rock bottom moment that their attitude shifts. Failure becomes not an option. They must succeed in order to survive. Why do we let things get to their worst possible point before we make a change? Because we are programmed to survive not thrive. So we let things go until the last possible minute, and then, faced with failure, somehow muster the courage and the strength to pull us out of our slump. Think about it in terms of movies. The hero usually saves the day at the last possible second. How can we avoid this?
Make a plan for success and thriving. You can read self help books that will put you in the right mind set. That will give you the skills you need to reprogram your brain to think differently. It is said, that if you don’t like your situation, change your perception of it, when you do that, your situation changes. Perception is the key in this.
When faced with failure, insecurities and depression loom. But somehow, we pull ourselves up out of that with the phrase “Failure is not an option”. It is at that moment that our brain kicks into high gear and gets us going and motivated to do the things we need to do to get us out of the hole. Our creativity sparks and our inspiration soars. Suddenly, we find that we don’t have to be stuck, and we know the way out, and we do what needs to be done, we take action, we make things happen to change the situation we are in.
I challenge you to think ahead and not let things get to the bottom of the barrel before you start scrambling out. Not all failure is bad, it can be a learning lesson. But if you can start to think about thriving instead of just surviving, you can save yourself a lot of time and effort.
To your thriving success, may failure not beat you there first!
The Law of Attraction states that what you think about you create. So, take a moment in your day to do some daily affirmations to reinforce your subconscious mind with positive thoughts.
I have released the third video in the Inspire Your Mind Series, Daily Affirmations of Gratitude. May it Inspire Your Mind with Gratitude!
As children, when it would rain, we would beg our parents to go outside and play. We loved to dance and play in the rain, splashing in every puddle we could find. Then, as adults, we learned to detest the rain. We complain about the rain, we rush to get through it as fast as possible to our destination.
Back in February 2009, I began a full court press to my own personal development. I had been in quite the rut. Recently, I have noticed a profound change in myself. I can remember just a few years ago, being at a Renaissance Fest and it was raining. I was cranky and miserable and hated being out in the rain (my bad attitude might also have had something to do with the company I was with).
But now, recently, I have found myself watching the rain outside with joy, even standing outside in the rain and loving it, finding peace with it. And it all has to do with my attitude towards it. I have reverted back to my child-like wonder at it. I am a much more happier and content person now. It’s amazing what a little attitude shift can do for a person.
If you want to feel more alive, be grateful for the things around you (good or bad everything has a lesson to teach), keep a positive focus, and practice positive thinking. I am very thankful that I have started to think positively again, it’s opened up a whole new world that I thought I had lost access to.
Embrace Life for all that it has to offer you and Create Your Greatest Day!
